The Law Offices of Michael M. Sieving was established in May 2000 with the primary purpose of providing a wide variety of legal services to automobile dealers, yet focusing on franchise disputes which arise between the dealers and the various manufacturers and distributors. The firm was established by Michael M. Sieving, who had spent the previous 16 years serving as an Administrative Law Judge and the Assistant Executive Secretary of the California New Motor Vehicle Board. The Board regularly hears and decides franchise disputes in the motor vehcle industry. During his tenure with the Board, Mr. Sieving presided over hundreds of mandatory settlement conferences and evidentiary hearings involving dealer-manufacturer disputes. Mr. Sieving also has extensive experience in the working with the California Legislature, and had been involved in drafting and revising bills and testifying as an expert witness before Legislative committees considering proposed legislation which affects the motor vehicle industry. Mr. Sieving is also called regularly to testify on behalf of dealers as an expert witness in matters involving dealers’ rights and statutory construction, and speaks to dealer groups regarding legal issues of current interest to the industry.
 
Since its inception, the firm has expanded its practice into dealership buy-sells, consumer vs. dealer disputes, business planning, regulatory disputes (Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Automotive Repair, etc.) and mediation, all pertaining to the motor vehicle industry. The firm’s client base has also expanded to include recreational vehicle dealers, motorcycle dealers, heavy truck dealers, and scooter dealers. Mr. Sieving is currently serving as counsel to the California Recreation Vehicle Dealer’s Association, and represents a large number of individual RV dealers in various capacities.
