From May 2000 until June 2011, Michael M. Sieving operated The Law Offices of Michael M. Sieving, specializing in advising and representing automobile and recreational vehicle dealers throughout the State of California in various aspects of dealership operations and dealer-related disputes. As of July 1, 2011, The Law Office of Michael M. Sieving has merged with Callahan Thompson Sherman & Caudill, LLP (“CTSC”) thereby combining its resources to more effectively and comprehensively serve automobile and recreational vehicle dealers throughout the entire State of California.
CTSC’s primary objective is to provide high quality, outcome oriented legal solutions at cost effective rates. CTSC, with the merger of The Law Offices of Michael M. Sieving, will provide a comprehensive variety of legal services to automobile dealers, including franchise disputes which arise between the dealers and the various manufacturers and distributors in the form of dealer Protests or State and Federal Litigation. Our services include representation with regard to dealership buy-sells, consumer vs. dealer disputes, business planning, regulatory disputes (Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Automotive Repair, etc.), labor disputes, and mediation, all pertaining to the motor vehicle dealer industry. The firm’s representation also includes recreational vehicle dealers, motorcycle dealers, heavy truck dealers, and scooter dealers.
From 1984 – 2000, Michael M. Sieving served for 16 years as Administrative Law Judge and Assistant Executive Secretary of the California New Motor Vehicle Board. The Board regularly hears and decides franchise disputes in the motor vehicle industry. During his tenure with the Board, Mr. Sieving presided over hundreds of mandatory settlement conferences and evidentiary hearings involving dealer-manufacturer disputes. Mr. Sieving also has extensive experience in working with the California Legislature, and has been involved in drafting and revising bills, and testifying as an expert witness before Legislative committees considering proposed legislation which affects the motor vehicle industry. Mr. Sieving is called regularly to testify on behalf of dealers as an expert witness in matters involving dealers’ rights and statutory construction, and speaks to dealer groups regarding legal issues of current interest to the industry.
Mr. Sieving is currently serving as counsel to the California Recreation Vehicle Dealer’s Association, and represents a large number of individual RV dealers in various capacities.
